What kind of world does a fortune teller like you come from, anyway?

Nothing special. Just a world where youkai and humans live together. We occasionally fight.

Not too much, it's about the same as here. ...sort of, I think. And no, the incident had already been solved and I was going back home when I was brought here. Sorry, you missed the fun I think.

Here I was hoping to kick some youkai ass. But there are at least unusual paranormal things to see, right?

Considering "Gensokyo" itself means "Illusionary World" in Japanese, I would think so. [there's a laugh at that.]

To me, it's not so strange, just everyday life. It's mostly peaceful, until a rogue youkai goes against the rules.

I guess when all of that is a regular way of life, you wouldn't find any of it unusual at all.

An Illusionary World... yeah, definitely sounds like my cup of tea. I don't think I've come across it yet in any of my old files, either, so that makes it even better.

[And because he's curious.] You mentioned Japanese, so does it have some sort of connection to the earth?

Well yeah, the Hakurei shrine has to have a worldly counterpart, y'know? Humans wander in from whatever you call earth to Gensokyo, so it's possible to get in, I just don't know how.

Oh, I should explain. I'm a paranormal investigator back where I'm from, and I have a whole collection of files on strange phenomena.

Hm... so it's possible for anyone to potentially wander in? Really? How does that happen, is there a portal somewhere? [He's wondering how many unexplained disappearances that could account for. It's not ALL alien abductions, you know. Just a large percentage is.]

Probably. I think people get lost and then they appear in Gensokyo. If they don't find my shrine or the human village, they get eaten. Usually when they find either, they'll go on about how they got lost and then they ended up in some crazy world. That's usually when I kick them out.

So you're kind of the Gensokyo Border Patrol? [He sounds amused at this idea.]

I wonder how many disappearances that accounts for... people on my world often get abducted by other forces beyond their control, usually something extraterrestrial in nature. If I ever return I'll know of another possible explanation.

Well, it could. Most humans don't stay long, we usually escort them out and back to the outside. I dunno how much time passes though.

That would make sense... it still could account for a lot of legendary tales of people disappearing and ending up in unknown worlds temporarily...
